Did Y’all Know…

It has been an amazing year for the Fund-It Fast Chats! We are so proud to be wrapping up our IDSM 2024 year and looking back on the IDSM-related topics we covered over the course of the year.

We have discussed everything IDSM including On-bill financing, demand response programs, microgrids, solar plus storage financing and more with the help of some experts! There is so much more but if you don’t know where to begin, begin right here with us.

We looking forward to 2025 and we hope to see you then!

City of Arvin volunteers at the Clean Energy Fair!

Our CCEW program saw great successes this year, and we would be remiss if we did not highlight a specific agency that has gone above and beyond for their community. The City of Arvin is an enrolled partner with the CCEW and has completed numerous projects both through the partnership and outside of the partnership under the leadership of their Grants Manager, Christine Viterelli.

The City of Arvin has completed lighting projects in all of their city-owned facilities, a streetlighting project to improve the safety of its residents, and in 2024, installed 4 heat pump water heaters all through the GK-12 program. Other electrification projects around the city have been made possible through Christine’s savvy grant writing skills such that she has been the recipient of many awards, including, most recently, the CEC Clean Energy Hall of Fame Award.

Additionally, the City of Arvin is an AB 617 city, and the SJVCEO proudly supports its efforts under this initiative. Part of those efforts includes Arvin's Annual Clean Energy Fair where residents have the opportunity to learn about and test drive clean fuel vehicles, bicycles, and farm equipment. Residents also learn about utility program opportunities, have fun, and enjoy great food and music.

SJVCEO, in partnership with SoCalREN, had a busy 2024! SJVCEO worked with public agency partners this year to develop and complete energy savings projects. A few projects completed in 2024 were the City of Lindsay:

  • Upgrading multiple HVAC units

  • A pool pump VFD at their Wellness Center.

This combined upgrade will save the city over 60,623 kWh and 1,042 therms annually.

While projects were being developed and deployed, SJVCEO worked to market top energy-saving measures while educating customers on how and why the measures are vital to them. In doing so, SJVCEO was acknowledged and awarded the “Marketing Mogul” Award from SoCalREN for our holistic approach to marketing energy efficiency to our customers.

Ensure efficient and reliable systems in public infrastructure. Whether for municipal buildings, schools, hospitals, or other public facilities, the technology behind measures continues to evolve, offering innovative solutions that enhance performance, sustainability, and cost-effectiveness.

This year, the SJVCEO created a series called “A Breakdown of SCG Rebate Guide,” which gave insight and rebate details into the specific measures that Southern California Gas Company has in their current rebate guide! Be sure to dive into what SoCalGas can offer you as you look to identify projects for 2025.

In addition to SCG’s Rebate Guide, we attended the 1st Annual Fueling Sustainability Conference in March, at Southern California Gas Company’s (SCG) Energy Resource Center in Downey, California. The crown jewel of the conference was a tour of North America’s first-ever hydrogen-powered microgrid and home demonstration. Construction on this modular home began in 202 and was completed in 2022. The tour guide led small groups of conference attendees through the home and demonstrated multiple technologies that exhibit SCG’s hydrogen and natural gas combination fuel. By combining natural gas with up to 20% hydrogen fuel, greenhouse gas emissions are significantly reduced while allowing customers to continue use of their existing natural gas appliances. We witnessed this technology used throughout the home, including in the cooktop. One highlight of this tour occurred when the guide asked attendees if they could detect a difference in the color of the flame. Many of us could not. Additional information on the hydrogen-powered microgrid can be found here

As we wrap up 2024, we wanted to revisit a series that has not only garnered viewership across our channels but has given insight into one of the most popular topics of the year, electric vehicles. Within the last year or two, PG&E has released not one, two, but three different programs specifically geared towards affordability and electric vehicles. Purchasing an electric vehicle and the infrastructure that comes along with it can be costly, but PG&E has created programs to help customers alleviate those costs through rebates and incentives. Check out each episode of our PG&E EV Info Session Series!
