Did Y'all Know? | Energy Awareness in Review

Did Y’all Know it was EE Awareness Month?

last month was Energy Awareness month. And while we see EVERY month as a chance to educate our communities on the extensive benefits of energy efficiency, it is great to have an entire month dedicated to celebrating! The SJVCEO spent the month in our communities sharing program information with residents and connecting with new partners to expand our ideas even further! Take a look at some of the highlights below!

The SJVCEO has (once again) partnered with PG&E for a new Info Session Series covering all things Electric Vehicles! PG&E has launched (and will continue to launch) new electric vehicle programs for residents, multifamily properties, and even small businesses. To get this series kickstarted, we were joined by Genevieve Ennis of PG&E to breakdown the first program of the series, the Pre-Owned Electric Vehicle Program. Check out our first episode to see if YOU can be eligible for up to $4,000 in rebates upon purchasing a qualified EV. And stay tuned for episode 2 coming SOON!

National Energy Awareness Month—October--began in 1991.  It was instituted by President George Bush as an encouragement for governments, organizations, and agencies to raise awareness for the importance of managing the nation's energy resources to increase sustainability. We’re 32 years (older than half the SJVCEO) into this celebration and October is now so much more than something to elevate the conversation amongst federal employees—it’s a month dedicated to all things energy and for the SJVCEO that means all things energy efficiency! And that includes our monthly Spotify playlist- check it out here!

Our October #FundItFastChat is officially live! There is no better way to celebrate Energy Awareness month than having Rochelle Butler and Fiela Vu discuss the Statewide Water Infrastructure Systems Efficiency (WISE) Program.

If you are a public agency in California, chances are, as much as 2/3 of your energy expenditure is in the movement and/or treatment of water. That is substantial! Don’t feel resigned to this reality, there are many ways to bring that cost down and a great way to start is to talk to the folks at WISE. Check the full webisode here:

SJVCEO was on the road quite a bit this month. Starting off the with California Economic Summit in Indian Wells. Creating new connections and discussing topics like clean energy, workforce development, and affordable housing are what will make the future of our state bright! It was the best way to kickstart energy awareness month, check out some highlights below!

Did Y’all Know…

to celebrate Energy Awareness month, the SJVCEO was all across Kings and Tulare counties attending community events, sharing utility program information with residents, and connecting with our county libraries. Check them out here:

SJVCEO was on the road heading to Visalia, CA for the Kings and Tulare County Master Plan on Aging meeting. Residents of the county gathered to hear from county committees and representatives on the creation of the master plan followed by a community resource fair. The SJVCEO connected with our community members and shared various utility programs offerings; from medical baseline to income qualified programs to electric vehicle rebate programs.

After we wrapped up this event, we were back on the road heading to Kings County! One of the activities for our PG&E EV Outreach program is to educate our communities on the multiple EV programs that PG&E is offering. While some of our rural hard-to-reach communities do not have consistent access to broadband internet, we resorted back to the traditional ways of outreach. We are collaborating with our county libraries to house and distribute PG&E EV program information at their applicable sites. County libraries serve as community hubs or gathering places for residents to learn about what is going on in their own backyard. Last week, we visited 4 libraries in Kings County (Corcoran, Lemoore, Hanford, and Kettleman City) to share flyers and program information for PG&E’s Pre-Owned Electric Vehicle Rebate Program and PG&E’s Multifamily Small Business Direct Install Program. If you are in the neighborhood, be sure to check them out!

We wrapped up the day at one of our favorite events of the year, the Kettleman City Public Safety Event! The SJVCEO has attended this event for many years and every year it gets better and better! County staff cooking for their community members, flu shots and covid vaccines, and various community resources (like us) in attendance, we hope that this year’s event brought a sense of community and connection to our Valley residents. For this event, we shared PG&E specific information with residents and Kings and Tulare Green Business content!
