Kits for Kids: Savings at Towne Avenue Elementary School

Fourth-grade students at Towne Avenue Elementary School in Carson, California, are moving to the head of the class when it comes to saving energy—at school and at home. Led by teachers Dan Bonn and Paul Zinza, students from two classrooms recently completed SoCalREN’s Kits for Kids Program.

“By participating in this program, the students are leaving a legacy for future classes and earning money for the school,” said Zinza, during an award ceremony in which officials from SoCalREN congratulated the classes and presented the school with a check for $2,000. Upon completion of the program, several students mentioned that the energy-saving knowledge they gained was leaving a lasting impact outside of school. Many families have begun to make other changes to increase the energy efficiency of their homes.
