SJVCEO loves LOVE (and these songs)
Happy month of love y’all! For this month’s playlist, we wanted to get everyone in their feelings with some love ballads and SLOW JAMZ to enjoy through the month of February and beyond. Click below for SJVCEO’s opinion of some of the greatest love songs EVER WRITTEN!
SLOW JAMZ Playlist- February 2020
Courtney’s Picks:
I was approximately 8 when I saw Labyrinth and that formed all my opinions on what love was supposed to be. Except I was 8 and thought David Bowie was super romantic and what you were supposed to look for and that Jennifer Connelly was clearly pompous and undeserving. And this, friends, is why you shouldn’t assume that all movies with puppets are appropriate for children. So, yeah, love is love is love, but its something else too.
I’m On Fire, Bruce Springsteen
Fade Into You, Mazzy Star
Glory Box, Portishead
By Your Side, Sade
Sam’s Picks:
February, a month focused on chocolates, flowers, and cards that express your love for a significant other. No need to only tell/show your loved one you love them once a year. The beauty of music is that you can express emotion at any time of the year. Everyone has their go-to songs.
You’re Still the One- Shania Twain
Can I Be Him- James Arthur
Truly Madly Deeply- Savage Garden
Too Close- Next
Kelsey’s Picks:
Initially, when I created this list, it had 14 songs on it, so that should give y’all a clear picture of how much I LOVE Slow Jams. While love is magnified so much more in February, you can listen to these choices 24/7. My picks include some of my favorites and some that may surprise you (ex: Nelly and Tim McGraw on a song together, TRUST ME IT WORKS)
Back At One- Brian McKnight
Always Be My Baby- Mariah Carey
ALL NIGHT- Beyoncé
Over and Over- Nelly and Tim McGraw
Rochelle’s Picks:
Ok, so my SJVCEO teammates tease me because I’m always saying, “I love, Love!” I can’t help it; I just do! I am a sucker for tender moments. Even more so this year because I am GETTING MARRIED to the most amazing person and I’m just bubbling over with love and excitement! I chose a few of my all-time favorite love songs to share this month. All of these songs have stood the test of time and are absolute classics. In fact, two of them were (originally) released before I was born and remain, to this day, essential Slow Jamz!
For the Love of You- The Isley Brothers
If I Ain’t Got You- Alicia Keys
No Ordinary Love- Sade
Cruisin’- D’Angelo
We hope you all enjoy the month celebrating love and happiness! Be on the lookout for our playlist coming at the beginning of March!
