February Playlist | EE for the Commercial Sector

For February, we’re looking at all things energy efficiency for the commercial sector. Our playlist is inspired by the grocery segment and the never-current songs you hear every time you walk through those sliding doors!

Courtney’s Picks:
The soundtrack to most grocery stores feels about as eternal as the measures themselves. Whether it be ASH controls on freezer doors, adding doors to cases, or water heaters, these measures continue to save energy and money for customers year after year. This is really similar to how the songs you hear while wandering past those cold cases continue to autoplay decade after decade.

Sunflower (Spiderman Into the Spider-Verse), Post Malone and Swae Lee
Dreams, Fleetwood Mac
Brown Eyed Girl, Van Morrison
Praise You, Fatboy Slim

Samantha’s Picks:
Do you find yourself strolling up and down the grocery aisles, humming to the music playing, and thinking, “Oh no, my top songs are now grocery store songs….”. Well, join the club; I am at the point where “my jams” now help me get through my weekly grocery store runs.

Only want to be With You, Hootie & the Blowfish
I’m Like a Bird, Nelly Furtado
The Reason, Hoobastank
Smooth, Santana & Rob Thomas

Kelsey’s Picks:
I still spend significant time strolling through my favorite grocery stores each week. One of my favorite things about this is listening to the song choices that each store plays year after year. While none of these songs were released recently, I have clear memories of each song playing as I grabbed groceries at Trader Joe's or stopped quickly to pick up something from Save Mart.

Bleeding Love, Leona Lewis
Call Me Maybe, Carly Rae Jepsen
California Gurls, Katie Perry
Viva La Vida, Coldplay

Rochelle’s Picks:
There are about a dozen or so songs that, no matter how hard I try (or don’t try), I can’t seem to escape in retail spaces, particularly grocery stores. These aren’t necessarily in my normal rotation, but I must admit that I sing along quietly when I hear any of them playing. There is a certain rhythm that helps me get through the experience and, more importantly, buy more stuff!

Emotions, Mariah Carey
You Gotta Be, Des’ree
My Girl, The Temptations
How Will I Know, Whitney Houston
