PG&E | Continuing through Time of Use

At this point in time, most eligible residential customers have automatically transitioned to the Time-of-Use rate plan unless they selected another rate plan. As a side note some residential customers were not included in the automatic transition, though they can still select their preferred rate plan. Customers who were not automatically moving to a Time of Use rate plan include those not currently on the standard Tiered rate plan and others enrolled in the Medical Baseline Program. Customers who live in hot climate zones and qualify for California Alternative Rates for Energy (CARE) or Family Electric Rate Assistance (FERA) are also not included in the automatic transition.

Customers can decline to transition and stay on their current rate plan or choose their preferred rate plan at any time. If you feel as though your household would benefit from a rate plan that is not Time of Use- you can of course switch back to a previous rate structure that your household had! To view a customized rate plan comparison, customers can visit their account online at pge.com/TOUchoice. Dedicated rate plan specialists are available at 1-866-743-7945 to answer questions and help customers choose a rate plan.

Changing when you use some electricity will help California make progress toward its clean energy goals by utilizing more renewable energy sources, like solar and wind power. Get more out of the Time-of-Use rate plan by shifting some electricity usage to times when costs are less. Always be sure to check the hour before using power. On this rate plan, 4-9 p.m. are higher-priced (peak)times. All other times are lower-priced (off-peak). Prices are lower on the rate plan for 19 hours a day because that is when demand is lower and renewable resources, like solar power, are most plentiful.
