SCE | Time of Use Check-In
Greetings all SCE customers! As many communities have either a.) gone through the Time of Use transition or b.) are gearing up for the transition. As we embark on this journey, a few questions have been circulating that SCE wants to be sure to clarify. Please see the breakdown below.
Do I have to switch to TOU rate?
· No. You have the choice to remain on your current rate. All customers being switched to TOU rates will receive (2) letters, 90 and 30 days in advance of their transition date. If you received a notification letter and take no action, we will automatically transition you to TOU plan that may be best for your household, based on your historical energy usage.
· There are many customers who are being excluded from being switched: Income qualified customers on CARE/FERA rates in hot climate zones, medical baseline customers and customers with disabilities.
· Customers have the flexibility to switch to a different TOU or tiered rate plan at any time, and there’s no minimum time commitment for their new TOU rate plan. They may switch rate plans twice in the 12-month period following the transition. After that, they can switch once per 12-month period.
· If customers choose to return to their tiered rate plan before the end of the first 12 months, they will receive a bill credit, if applicable, for the time they were on the TOU rate plan. (TOU-D-PRIME does not qualify for bill protection.)
· If indeed customers pay more on a TOU rate plan (TOU-D-4-9PM or TOU-D-5-8PM) than they would have paid on their previous tiered rate plan for the first 12 months, they will receive a one-time bill credit for the difference after the first 12 months.
What is Bill Protection?
• If you pay more on a TOU rate plan (TOU-D-4-9PM or TOU-D-5-8PM) than you would have paid on your previous tiered rate plan for the first 12 months, you will receive a one-time bill credit for the difference after the first 12 months.
• If you choose to return to your tiered rate plan before the end of the first 12 months, you will receive a bill credit, if applicable, for the time you were on the TOU rate plan. (TOU-D--PRIME does not qualify for bill protection.)
