How are things going for Team SJVCEO?  Oh, well…Rochelle is thriving in this new work from home world.  Samantha is a machine and will excel anywhere.  Courtney and Kelsey are dying on the vine from lack of human contact. So, you know, exactly as expected.

To paraphrase Dumbledore, the thing we really fear is what we don’t know. We will come through this, and until then, we have music to take us through.

Let’s not belabor the point here—the world is on lockdown and $#!& is crazy. I wish, I absolutely wish I had some way of using words as a salve to ease this experience, to pass the time more gently or to find the calm in an ever-growing storm.  But I don’t. I’m here, locked in with a litigator without a courtroom and a six-year-old.  It’s all confusing.  Sometimes it’s bliss, sometimes it’s panic, but it’s what we’re in for, for the duration.

To put it simply, quarantine life is not for me. The first few days, sure it was nice having some time to myself. But as we are approaching the five-week mark, I find myself making a ridiculous amount of Spotify playlists, attempting to learn how to do a headstand, or getting a scratchy voice because I am singing these songs at the top of my lungs 24/7. I will save you all the horror of my singing voice and let the artists do the work, check ‘em out!

LOCKDOWN!  Things have reached an unprecedented level of weird in recent weeks.  However, one must do what one can to remain active and have some fun while sheltering in place.  Cupid Shuffle has been a staple group dance at my family gatherings since its release.  Although, we have to use group FaceTime to see each other these days, dancing in your living room is still loads of fun!  Now, if I ruled the world, there would be many things I would’ve done differently in the interest of preserving lives.  This time has me reflecting on that often.

Finally, Talk and Cold War both focus on themes of communication, self-reflection, and honesty.  Both of which are especially important now.  The ability to reflect on how your actions impact others and our collective ability, to be honest, and forthcoming about circumstances.  Stay healthy!
